Seam Guide for Kenmore Ultra-Stitch 12 Machine?

I quilt using a grid pattern of straight lines every inch or two inches. Typically I lay the quilt on the floor and draw lines and follow those, but a friend told me it would be much easier to use a seam guide (I think that's what they called it.) Is that what it's called, and if so, does Kenmore make one for my machine? Thanks, Havely

I know how fun it can be to make your own blankets and other clothe items with a sewing machine. I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your appliance so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I am adding a link below in where you can enter your appliance model number and the owners manual if available will pop up in where you can find some great information about the sewing machine. I hope this helps while you wait for your expert response.

Thank you for your question on the seam guide for the Kenmore sewing machine.

I think what she is referring to a walking foot with the sliding bar for following the last stitch.

Think most people stitch in the ditch only rather than a grid pattern.

I will give you a link to walking foot with an open toe with the sliding guide bar.

My wife and I prefer the open toe model because you can see the seam so much better. Click on the blue links.

Open toe walking foot with seam guide bar .

If this is not what she was talking about please let me know a little more detail and I will be happy to see if I can find what you are looking for.

I found this one on a web search and maybe this is what she was referring too.

Seam guide .

Happy Quilting.

Sam A, Yes, that's exactly what I need. Thanks so much for this help! I actually prefer the grid to stitching in the ditch, so this is perfect for my needs. Believe it or not, I don't have a walking foot (I'm rather new to quilting), but if I'm understanding you correctly you are recommending the item in your first link. If so, I'll go ahead and order it (I checked with a parts person and they said it should work with my machine). I'm really happy about this---I think it's going to make my life a lot easier! Havely

I really think you will like the walking foot, especially the open toed model because you can see the seam so much better. It really helps with feeding of the quilt sandwich so the top and bottoms of the quilt travel together better. Happy Quilting. Sam A.

Hi Sam, Turns out the item you referred me to is currently unavailable and Sears can't tell me when it might become available. There seem to be two options, but I'm not sure if the open toe one will work on my machine. Would you happen to know this? What would you advise me to do at this point? http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02097772000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02097767000P?prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3 Thanks in advance for any advice you may have for me! Thank you for the update Havely. If you will give me the model number off the back of your sewing machine I will find you a walking foot for your exact model. Sam A.

Thank you for the model number for your sewing machine. Yes the open toed walking foot that I gave you will fit your machine. I looked on line and it looked like I could order it. See link below. If we do not currently have this walking foot available then I will find a different source for you. All brands.com has the Janome brand which is what we sell. Look at the links below. You have to be careful of the brand because there are some china built version that are not good. You have to have the one that Janome has built in Japan. The quality is much better. If you have a local Janome sewing machine dealer in your area you could get it there also, but they will charge you more. I hope this will help. Sam A.

Hi Sam, I'm so sorry to continue to pester you. The first open toe foot you directed me to was model # 97769 and the second was Model# 97772. The first was for "Vertical & Horizontal Sewing Machines" and the second for "Embroidery/Sewing Machines." Is the second one just an updated version of the first? Are they both okay for my machine? If so, I'll go ahead and order #97772...it's just the fact that because it mentioned embroidery machines I wasn't sure it would work on mine. Thanks again for your help! Havely

Thank you for your question and you are not pestering me. The part number I am looking for is the Janome number 200-339-007, with or without the dashes. I believe the other source (All brands) I gave you, had the part number and image of the correct walking foot. Because we do not have this right now I would go with the All Brand source if that is okay with you. I want to make sure you are getting the right one. Sam A.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
